Snow-like sight in the plains of Himachal, Kashmir, Uttarakhand was seen in many cities of Rajasthan on Saturday. Friday night in Rajasthan was the coldest night of this season in the state. Due to the cold wave and the freezing winter, the mercury went down to minus in Churu, Mount Abu, Fatehpur, Jobner of Jaipur.

For the first time this year, apart from Fatehpur, the mercury went below zero in three other places. Snow froze in open areas at many places including Shekhawati Zone, Hill Station Mount Abu, Jaipur. Last night the lowest temperature was recorded at minus 3.8 in Fatehpur.

Last night the temperature was minus 1.1 in Churu, minus 2 in Jobner, Jaipur, minus 3 degree Celsius in Mount Abu. For the first time in Mount Abu, the mercury went from 0 to minus 3 in a span of 24 hours. Snow was seen in the plains in Abu till 9 am. Here the mercury usually goes to minus with a drop of one degree after 0. Snow layer was seen in the plains of Mount Abu and on the banks of Nakki Lake. Apart from this, the temperature in Sikar, Hanumangarh, Nagaur, Bhilwara was recorded between 0 to 1 degree Celsius.

Snowflakes came out of the water pipes installed for irrigation in the fields in Jobner, Jaipur. In Fatehpur Shekhawati of Sikar, water kept in open pots outside the houses froze. At the same time, the water coming out of the pipes installed in the fields in Jaisalmer also froze.

The condition of the cold is that even the drops of dew that fell on the rose flower froze.

Dean of Fatehpur Agriculture College Prof. Shishram Dhaka said that after the temperature drops below 2 degree Celsius, the vegetable crops start getting frost. Tomato, Brinjal, Chilli, Cabbage are early perishable crops. It also affects Rabi crops like wheat, mustard, gram, linseed, cumin, coriander, etc. To prevent this, 0.1 percent of sulfuric acid should be mixed and sprayed.

The Jaipur Meteorological Center has predicted that the effect of severe winter will continue for the next three days. On December 19, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Ganganagar, Churu, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Nagaur, Alwar, Jaisalmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Tonk, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh districts. In these districts, the Meteorological Department has predicted a cold wave along with severe winter. At the same time, on December 20 and 21, a yellow alert has been issued in these cities, issuing warnings of cold winds and low temperatures. From December 21 onwards, there will be a slight change in the weather and the temperature will start increasing.

At the same time, the minimum temperature in Hadoti’s Kota, Bundi, Baran and Mewar’s Udaipur declined by 5 to 7 degree Celsius.
