The case of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib: Badal, Kejriwal, Sukhbir and Bhagwant Mann condemned the incident, called it a conspiracy to spoil the atmosphere of Punjab

There has been widespread condemnation across the country for attempting to sacrilege the Guru Granth Sahib by a youth at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Saturday evening and then lynching him by an angry sangat. Prominent leaders of all political parties also expressed grief over the incident by tweeting.

Former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Aam Aadmi Party supremo and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal, Aam Aadmi Party’s Lok Sabha MP from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann and Bathinda Akali Dal MP and former Union Minister Harsimrat Badal condemned the incident.

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh also condemned the incident and in a way held the central agencies responsible for it.

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh termed the entire incident as unfortunate. He said that elections are about to come in Punjab. If agencies are getting such incidents done then they should stop them. Already there is anger among the devotees and the sangat over the incidents of sacrilege. If anyone is caught committing an act of sacrilege and is killed at the hands of the sangat, then the government will be responsible for it.

Akal Takht Jathedar said that Darbar Sahib is the heart of the Sikhs and if anyone puts a foot on the heart of the Sikh and thinks that he will live life, then he is thinking wrong.

Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwant Mann tweeted that it is heartbreaking to hear about the unfortunate incident at Sri Harmandir Sahib. May God lay a kind hand on the heads of Punjab and Punjabis. Nanak Naam Chaddi Kala, Tere Bhane Sarbat Da Bhala.

Sirsa targets Congress

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who left Shiromani Akali Dal and joined BJP a few days back, also condemned the incident at Golden Temple. Sirsa said that the Punjab government should get an inquiry into this very sad incident. Sirsa also targeted the Congress for this incident and said that full assistance will be provided to the SGPC by the Central Government in the investigation of this incident.
