Telangana minister T Harish Rao orders probe into ragging incident in Suryapet medical college | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: Telangana health minister T Harish Rao on Monday ordered a probe into an incident in which a medical student was ragged by his seniors in the Government Medical College at Suryapet.
The medical student was allegedly stripped, made to kneel and salute his seniors, and was physically assaulted.
Rao has asked the director of medical education to investigate and take necessary action and ensure that no ragging incidents take place.
The student, who hails from Hyderabad, was reportedly confined to his room for four hours before he got out of the room on the pretext of going to the toilet. He informed his parents about what he was being subjected to.
The father of the boy called the police and informed them, urging them to take action.
The student went to the hostel in Suryapet on January 1 night. His seniors reportedly asked him to come over to the first floor from his second floor room.
The student was asked to present himself before the senior in formal wear -– clothes and shoes.
When the student went there, he was asked to salute them, give details of his family members and started video recording as they demanded that he address them as ‘sir’.
As the student began to voice record the happenings on his phone, the enraged seniors made his kneel on the floor and beat him up.
Police have so far not booked any cases against those responsible for the ragging.
