Telangana Govt Announces 13-Day Dussehra Break, Schools, Colleges to Reopen on Oct 26 – News18

As per the academic calendar the Dussehra Holidays will run from October 14 to 25. Schools and colleges will resume regular classes on October 26

Holidays for Dussehra in 2023 have been announced by the Telangana government. The state government of Telangana officially declared holidays  for schools, banks, and other institutions to observe the festivities for Dussehra, one of the largest celebrations observed in the state.The Dussehra vacations for schools have been extended to 13 days for the academic year 2023-24, ensuring that students as well as teachers have adequate time to enjoy all of the festivities.

The academic calendar indicates that the Dussehra Holidays this year will start on October 14 and go until October 25. Private and government schools and colleges will resume regular classes on October 26, marking the conclusion of this extended Dussehra break. In addition, schools have been instructed to complete their summative assessments by October 11, as per reports. Both Bathukamma and the Dussehra festival will be observed in Telangana on October 22 and 24, respectively.

Junior colleges will be closed for seven days, according to a notification issued by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE). Dussehra holidays have been announced by the state government for all junior colleges from October 19 to 25. The board ordered that all junior colleges adhere to the holiday schedule and reopen on October 26. 

According to this year’s academic calendar, schools will be operational for 229 days. The academic year began on June 12, 2023, and will end on April 23, 2024. Additionally, in 2024, the Sankranti break will be scheduled to last six days, from January 12 to January 17. These holidays demonstrate the Telangana government’s dedication to maintaining a well-balanced academic calendar while taking into account all religious festivals.

Additionally, the third Saturday of every month is set out on the academic calendar for parent-teacher meetings, thereby promoting better interaction between parents and schools. The first week of each month has also been marked out for school education committee meetings. 

Banks and other state establishments will be closed on October 22, 23, and 24 in respect of Durg Ashtami, Maha Navami, and Dussehra, respectively, as part of holidays announced by the Telangana government in addition to school closures.
