In Britain, Foreign Affairs Minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan will begin the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) talks during her visit to New Delhi from Wednesday. The UK government said that there will be bilateral talks between Trevelyan and India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday in India’s two-day tour program.

Giving this information, Britain’s Ministry of International Trade (DIT) said that Trevelyan and Goyal are expected to discuss many issues. This also includes removing barriers to green trade and market access for businesses in India-UK. After this, the two ministers are expected to start official talks on a new India-UK FTA.

Trevelyan said, India and Britain are already close friends, strengthening them further is a priority for 2022. I will use my visit to advance an ambitious business agenda that represents Britain’s leanings in the Indo-Pacific. She will also attend the co-hosting of the 15th India-UK Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) along with UK minister Goyal on Thursday.

Discussion with Jaishankar, Nirmala and Bhupendra also
