According to reports, the Union Finance Ministry, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is considering using Kalam and Tagore watermarks on a series of notes.

Tagore received the Nobel Prize for his poetic work Gitanjali. At the same time, Kalam is one of the great scientists and personalities of the country. If the photographs of these personalities are printed on the notes, then it will be the first time that the Reserve Bank will print the picture of other personalities besides Mahatma Gandhi on the rupee.

Watermark samples of Gandhi, Tagore and Kalam ready
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Security Printing and Meeting Corporation of India has invited Emeritus of IIT-Delhi, Prof. Two different sets of watermark samples of Gandhi, Tagore and Kalam have been sent to Dilip T. Sahni. Sawhney has been asked to choose from two sets and put them up for final consideration by the government. Watermark checker Prof. Sahni is an expert in Electromagnetic Instrumentation. Bapu’s picture was first printed in 1969

It was the birth centenary year of Gandhi and as a mark of remembrance Bapu’s picture was printed on the note. There was also a picture of Sevagram Ashram behind the picture on the note. The photo of Gandhi’s smiling face was first printed on the notes issued in 1987. The first 500 rupee note with this picture came in October 1987. After this this picture of Gandhiji started being used on other notes as well.

There is a demand to print the photo of Bose-Bhagat Singh on social media
Social media users have been demanding the printing of photographs of revolutionary Subhash Chandra Bose and Sardar Bhagat Singh on Indian currency. If the photo of Tagore and Kalam comes on the note, then in the coming times, photos of national heroes like Bose and Bhagat Singh can also be seen on the note.
