After which he surrendered on 20 May. Since then he is lodged in Patiala Central Jail. However, he did not take any parole during this period.

In an incident of road rage in Punjab in 1988, an elderly man was killed by Sidhu’s punch. In this case, the High Court sentenced Sidhu to one year imprisonment. However, the Supreme Court acquitted Sidhu of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and imposed a fine of one thousand rupees. In this case, the victim’s family filed a review petition. Hearing on which, the Supreme Court sentenced Sidhu to one year’s imprisonment.
