Suryakumar Yadav hugs Pakistan’s social media sensation Momin Saqib

Saqib, who went viral after his epic “Maaro Mujhe Maaro” reaction to his home team’s loss against India in the 2019 World Cup, was seen greeting Suryakumar Yadav in the hotel lobby.

Apart from the intense cricketing action, the current edition of the Asia Cup has also witnessed several heartwarming moments off the field. One such incident unfolded during an interaction between India’s Suryakumar Yadav and social media sensation of Pakistan Momin Saqib.

Saqib, who went viral after his epic “Maaro Mujhe Maaro” reaction to his home team’s loss against India in the 2019 World Cup, was seen greeting the Indian batter in the hotel lobby.

In a video shared by Sadiq on X, the two men are seen sharing a hug as he praises Surya for his innovative batting style. In his post, Sadiq wrote, “The current day and age of cricket requires innovation and Sky is indeed one of the finest in the game! See you in the final. I always appreciate the love and respect I get from the Indian players!’

The heartening moment soon sparked reactions amongst several fans as comments poured in the replies section.

Here’s how the netizens reacted:

India proved to be the better team when they beat Pakistan in the World Cup back in 2019. Rohit Sharma’s incredible 140 runs in 113 balls helped India pick up an easy 89-run victory.

It was after the match when Momin Saqib delivered his hilarious monologue owing to the frustration from the loss. The video ended up making the Pakistan fan an overnight internet sensation. Despite the absence of Suryakumar Yadav from the squad, the Men in Blue were able to emerge victorious on that day.

Speaking of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian cricketer has not featured in India’s playing eleven in the Asia Cup, so far. He last played an international game in India’s tour of the West Indies where he scored 35 runs in 30 balls to help his side secure an easy 200-run victory. He was phenomenal in his last T20I at Lauderhill as he smashed 61 runs in 45 balls against the Caribbean side. However, his heroics were not enough to seal the victory as India lost the game by eight wickets.

In the 2023 Asia Cup, The Men in Blue have already managed to ease past Pakistan once again after recording a 228-run victory against them. It’s a high possibility that the two teams will meet again in the final of the tournament.
