The accident, which took place on the Kohima-Dimapur highway in Nagaland, was recorded in the dashcam of a car.

A landslide occurred on the Kohima-Dimapur highway in Nagaland on Tuesday evening. Large boulders started falling from the high mountains on one side of the highway, two of which crushed three cars parked on the highway. The stones fell at such a speed that the cars were completely destroyed.

Two people died in the accident at Chumokedima in Dimapur, while three people were seriously injured. The whole incident was captured in the dashboard camera of the car parked just behind the cars which were crushed by the stones. It can be seen in the video how two big stones fell on three cars one after the other within just 5 seconds.

After the accident, the debris of the cars remained scattered on the road.  Because of this there was a traffic jam for several hours.

One person died on the spot, one died in the hospital
Dimapur Police Commissioner Kevithuto Sofi said that the accident took place at 5.30 pm on Tuesday in front of Old Chumokedima police check gate in Dimapur. Four vehicles were damaged in the accident. One person died on the spot, while three people were rescued and sent to the hospital in Dimapur. One person died during treatment.

The police commissioner said that due to this accident, there was a traffic jam on the highway for a long time. On getting information about the accident, the traffic police personnel reached the spot. Some officers went to the hospital to collect information about the dead and injured. However, no one has been identified so far.

Neiphiu Rio said – the place of the accident is known for landslides
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed grief over the incident. He paid tribute to the people who lost their lives in the accident by tweeting and said that the place where this accident took place is known as ‘Pakala Pahar’. This place is known for landslides and rock falls.

The CM said that the government is taking all necessary steps to provide emergency services. A compensation of four lakh rupees will be given to the family of the deceased. All necessary medical assistance will be given to the injured.
