stalin: Stalin Claims Credit For 27% Obc Quota | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: Even as various political parties have already claimed credit for the Supreme court upholding 27% reservation for OBCs, chief minister M K Stalin said on Friday that the SC order was a victory for sustained struggle of the DMK. Similarly, DMK will win in the struggle against NEET as well he said.
In a statement on Friday, Stalin said that the Supreme Court order was the biggest victory in the history of social justice in India after Madal commission verdict. “This is victory for sustained struggle by the DMK,”’ he said. Stalin said the social justice guaranteed by the constitution would help Tamil Nadu in its fight against NEET as well.
Stalin said he welcomed the reasons elucidated by the SC for upholding the 27% reservation of seats for OBCs in all-India quota in UG and PG medical courses. The statement said that the DMK had approached the apex court objecting denial of the 27% reservation for OBCs in the 15% MBBS seats and 50% PG seats from all-India quota. Though the apex court upheld the reservation, the court order was not implemented. Hence the DMK filed a contempt petition, following which the Centre agreed to provide reservation, Stalin said.
