SSC JE Exam 2023: Negative Marking Rule Revised; Check New Exam Pattern – News18

The SSC JE 2023 exam is scheduled for October 2023.

As per the notice, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer in paper 1.

In a major development, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) declared a modification in the negative marking criteria of the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical & Electrical) Examination 2023 on Monday. The commission issued a notice on the official website suggesting changes in the particular exam. Candidates who have enrolled themselves for the examination are advised to visit the official website at ssc.nic.in.

As per the notice, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer in paper 1 of the examination. On the other hand, paper 2 will see a negative marking of 1 mark in the case of incorrect answers, the SSC added. Earlier, there existed a deduction of one-third of the total marks allotted to a question.

SSC JE 2023 exam

It is pertinent to note that the SSC JE 2023 exam is scheduled for October 2023. SSC aims to hire a total of 1,324 Junior Engineers at central government departments through this recruitment drive. The exam has been scheduled to be held from October 9 to October 11.

Paper 1 will carry a total of 200 marks whereas Paper 2 will carry 300 marks. Candidates will be given two hours to solve the question paper. The shifts for Paper 1 are 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 pm in the afternoon.

SSC JE 2023: Paper I Exam pattern

SSC JE 2023 Paper 1 will be a multiple-choice questions-based online exam. The first paper will be divided into three sections: General Intelligence and Reasoning; General Awareness; and General Engineering. Candidates are expected to solve the part corresponding to the specialisation choice they picked while filling out the application form.

SSC JE 2023: Paper II Exam pattern

Paper 2 will be a standard examination. While Part A is for Civil and Structural Engineering, Parts B and C will test the ability of the applicants who picked Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering as their choice respectively.
