Sri Guru Granth Sahib was beautified at Sri Hemkund Sahib after the doors were closed for 7 months.

The pilgrimage to Sri Hemkund Sahib, the religious place of Sikhs located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, has started from today. The portals of Shri Hemkund Sahib are open after almost 7 months. The court is decorated with flowers, colorful lights and decorative clothes. After the hard work of the army soldiers, today Sri Guru Granth Sahib was beautified with bands and shower of flowers.

The procession of devotees left Gobind Dham at 4 am and reached Sri Hemkund Sahib. Had a darshan after taking a bath. The recitation of Sukhmani Sahib started as soon as Sri Guru Granth Sahib arrived at 10.30 am. Kirtan started after the text. The administration has also completed preparations regarding the arrival of Sangat.

The soldiers of the Indian Army have worked hard day and night to ensure that the passengers do not face any problem. A path was made in a sheet of snow more than 15 feet high.

The doors are closed in winter
Every year before the snowfall starts in winter, the doors of Sri Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara built in the Himalayan hills are closed. These doors are kept closed for 6 to 7 months. As of now, this journey of 2023 has started from today.

418 soldiers made way
Troops of 418 Engineering Corps were mobilized to make way to Sri Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara. Soldiers cut snow from Atlakoti Glacier, removed snow from Aastha Path. However, this time it continued to snow till the end of April. Due to which the soldiers also had to face a lot of problems.

The administration has also instructed the Sangat to take precautions. Significantly, due to inclement weather and extreme cold, the pilgrims are strictly prohibited from being on the top while walking with shortness of breath and the sangat will have to return after darshan.
