SpiceJet flight: Passengers started walking on the tarmac after getting off the plane, DGCA said

There is no bus from the plane to the terminal. Part of the passengers started walking on the tarmac. And DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) was involved in this gross irregularity. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident of SpiceJet.

Where is the event?

Indira Gandhi International Airport incident in Delhi. Saturday night at half past eleven. A SpiceJet flight (SpiceJet SG 8108) from Hyderabad has arrived and landed. Then the passengers started getting down.

From there the terminal is quite a walk. According to the rules, the bus is supposed to come for them. Meanwhile, after some time, the bus is not seen. This made some of the passengers impatient. Headed to the terminal on foot on the tarmac.

Why is DGCA investigating?

According to Delhi airport officials, this is a possible protocol violation. Passengers are not supposed to walk on the tarmac. Both passengers and airport authorities may face danger and work problems.

An official said, ‘It is completely against the rules. Each vehicle on the airport tarmac has a designated lane, area. They must be followed for safety reasons. And there, commuters walk across the tarmac. This is a very dangerous thing.’

Spicejet statement

SpiceJet said the report of passengers walking on the tarmac was false. They denied it.

According to SpiceJet, no passenger was forced to walk towards the terminal. There was a slight delay in the arrival of the coach.

According to them, despite repeated requests from our staff, some passengers started walking towards the terminal. They walked a few meters away. Meanwhile, the coach has already arrived. Those who started walking were also taken in that coach. After that all the passengers went by coach to the terminal building.

There were a total of 186 passengers on the flight in question.

What is DGCA saying?

DGCA said it has asked the airline to respond on the matter. “We are looking into it,” a DGCA official told Hindustan Times. He said, if necessary, action will be taken accordingly.
