Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan defended the Modi government’s commitment to doubling farmers’ incomes, noting that farmers’ earnings have increased over the past decade, with some areas even experiencing doubled incomes. He acknowledged that certain regions affected by natural or other disasters might not have seen similar growth but emphasized that numerous efforts have been made to address these issues. Chouhan affirmed that ongoing work is essential, describing agriculture as the foundation of India’s economy and farmers as its soul, thus making farmer welfare a duty. Regarding recent Lok Sabha election results, Chouhan highlighted that, for the first time since 1962, a single prime minister has led the government to a third consecutive term. He mentioned that while seat numbers can fluctuate, the democracy’s essence lies in these changes, and praised their improved performance in states like Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
