shah: BJP will form govt in 4 states, make gains in Punjab, say Shah & Nadda | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Exuding confidence of retaining governments in four of the poll-bound states and better performance in Punjab, top BJP leaders, including home minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda on Saturday said PM Narendra Modi’s popularity has been seen as more than any PM of Independent India.
At a press conference, Shah said BJP will form governments in Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand and get an overwhelming majority in Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state, which determines the direction of the country’s politics.
“Popularity of the PM was seen at its zenith in these polls. The assembly polls have shown that Modi has emerged as the most popular PM of independent India, which has directly benefited the party. Huge crowds in his rallies and also the roadshow in Kashi was testimony to the popularity of the PM,” Shah said reiterating his claim that efficient and transparent implementation of welfare schemes by UP CM Yogi Adityanath will also help BJP.

Both Shah and Nadda rejected the possibility of BJP needing support of parties outside its alliance to form a government in Uttar Pradesh.
Asked about the winning prospect of the party-led alli- ance in Punjab, Nadda said BJP will make gains and this also means that the alliance led by it has a good chance as well.
The home minister lavished praise on Yogi Adityanath saying that crime had gone down drastically, which directly helped BJP get people’s support in the state polls. Nadda said, “People will give BJP a good majority in the four states where it has gov- ernments and party will have an improved performance in Punjab, where it has consented 67 seats for the first time.”
Shah said the BJP government has run for five years in Uttarakhand without a single corruption allegation. “The achievement of One RankOne Pension has reached the doorsteps of retired soldiers of Uttarakhand,” he added.
About Manipur, he said, “The state has transformed from blockades, bandhs, violence, drugs to organic farming, medical institutions and more. PM Modi and our CM of Manipur have worked hard to end the differences between hills and valleys. ” He said in Goa there used to be a hung assembly but this time BJP is going to form the government with full majority.
The home minister asserted that Modi has replaced politics of casteism, appeasement and nepotism with politics of performance.
