Scream For Motorable Road Falls On Deaf Ears | Guwahati News – Times of India

Guwahati: Non-motorable roads in the Guwahati East legislative assembly constituency, which lies in the heart of the capital city, the fully urban constituency of Assam, have failed to draw the attention of the government or local MLAs even after 74 years of Independence.
Around 1,000 residents of the Rudranagar and Amiyanagar areas in Chandmari in the constituency have filed several petitions to BJP MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharya and the previous MLAs of the constituency seeking a motorable road. The residents of the areas have to piggyback their patients to the main road to get an ambulance or a vehicle. No fire tenders can enter the area.
Dulal Chandra Bania, a resident of Rudranagar area, said the locals had in September last year submitted a memorandum to the local MLA highlighting the issues of the area. “The MLA assured us that he would take necessary steps in resolving the issues soon. Almost five months have passed, but we have not seen any result,” he added.
