New Delhi: The Delhi government has directed the closure of schools on Monday in view of incessant rainfall, said chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Heavy rain is expected across Delhi and NCR in the next 24 hours, the weather department said on Sunday.
In view of the torrential rains lashing Delhi since last 2 days and warnings from the Meteorological Department, all schools in Delhi are being closed for a day tomorrow.

For the past two days, the entire NCR (National Capital Region) has been witnessing heavy rain, which has led to severe waterlogging problems and affected traffic flow.
Due to the rain, 15 buildings collapsed at various places in the national capital on Saturday.
Speaking on the building collapse incidents in the national capital, Atul Garg, Director of Delhi Fire Service, told ANI, “We received a total of 15 calls, the highest in a day. It was raining heavily and therefore some old houses or under-construction buildings collapsed…It was unprecedented that we received 15 calls of house collapse…Since there was waterlogging we faced challenges of transportation…The building in Zakira collapsed no one stayed in those buildings, but children were playing. Two children have been shifted to the hospital and the search operation for the other child is underway.”
Meanwhile, the Safdarjung observatory, the city’s primary weather station, recorded 153 mm of rainfall at 8.30 am today, the highest since July 25, 1982.
The Safdarjung Observatory recorded 153 mm of rainfall in 24 hours ending 8:30 am on Sunday, the highest since the 24-hour rainfall of 169.9 mm on July 25, 1982, a senior IMD official said, as per news agency PTI. The city logged 133.4 mm of rain on July 10, 2003, and an all-time high of 266.2 mm on July 21, 1958.
According to the Met Office, rainfall below 15 mm is considered light, 15 mm to 64.5 mm is moderate, 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is heavy, and 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm is very heavy. Any amount exceeding 204.4 mm is classified as extremely heavy rainfall.
