T’PURAM: The opposition slammed the government’s lackadaisical approach in handling the case in which a tribal youth, Madhu, was lynched by a mob in Attapadi. Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that the prosecution is unable to go ahead with the case properlyeven as years have gone by.
“Government is unable to appoint a prosecutor. Though his mother and sister are being threatened by those related to the culprits in the case, police have paid no attention to this matter,” he said on Friday.
He said that while the government had spent lakhs from the public exchequer to save the culprits in Periya double murder case, it did not bother to conduct the case of a poor tribal youth, who was murdered for stealing food, properly. It is a shame on the state, he said.
