Late Sant Vijay Das was protesting against illegal mining in the Deeg area of Bharatpur. There was a movement of saints demanding to stop illegal mining in the Deeg area of Bharatpur.
It was during this movement that Sant Vijay Das tried to immolate himself. Soon after the incident, Vijay Das was admitted to Jaipur’s SMS Hospital in critical condition for treatment.
Then later he was brought to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for treatment.
Sadhus claim that the place where illegal mining was taking place is a religious place.
There is a mining site in the Parikrama route of Brij 84 Kos.
The monks and sages claim that the mining site is associated with religious faith. Sages and saints have been protesting for 550 days.
BJP demands CBI inquiry
The Gehlot government has indicated by handing over the probe to the IAS officer that the state government is not inclined to get the matter probed by the CBI. BJP is continuously demanding a CBI inquiry.
National President JP Nadda had constituted the inquiry committee. The committee has submitted its report. BJP has warned of an agitation if a CBI investigation is not done.
