New Delhi: May 25th marks the death anniversary of veteran actor and former politician Sunil Dutt, who bid adieu to this world in 2005. Marking his 17th death anniversary, his son and actor Sanjay Dutt shared an emotional post on his Instagram.
Sanjay Dutt took to his social media handle to share a heartwarming throwback picture of himself from his youth days, posing with his father Sunil Dutt. Sharing the picture, he penned an emotional note that is bound to stir emotions in everyone who reads it.
Sharing the priceless picture of the father-son duo, Sanjay wrote, “Through thick and thin, you were always there to guide and protect me. You were my strength, inspiration and support in every need… the best a son could ask for. You will always be in my heart Dad, I miss you! ❤️”
Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh reacted on the post with heart emojis while several fans wrote “We Miss You Sir” and extended their “Jadu Ki Jhappi” to the actor.

Sunil Dutt’s daughter and politician Priya Dutt also took to her Instagram to share an adorable video, a slideshow of pictures featuring the Dutts. Priya wrote, “It’s been 17 years today 25th May 2005. That year many changes happened in my life. I lost that one person who meant the world to me and that same year I experienced the joy of the birth of my son who means the world to me.

Sunil Dutt is known as one of the pioneers of Bollywood with an illustrious acting career to his credit. Dutt made his Bollywood debut with ‘Railway Platform’ in 1955 but went on to gain stardom with the 1957 blockbuster film ‘Mother India’. Reportedly, Sunil Dutt and actress Nargis fell in love on the sets of the film going on to tie-the-knot in 1958.
Sunil Dutt proved his acting prowesss through his versatile roles in films like ‘Khandaan’, ‘Mera Saaya’ and ‘Padosan’ among others.
After enjoying a successful career in the Bollywood industry, he ventured into politics in 1984. Joining the Indian National Congress Party, he was elected to the Parliament for five terms. He was in office as the Minister Of Youth Affairs and Sports in the Manmohan Singh Cabinet, when he breathed his last in 2005.
Dutt Sahab, as he was fondly called, will continue to live in our hearts as one of the greatest artists of all times.
