The sand mafia tried to ram the car of Deepa Mudhol Munde, collector of Beed district of Maharashtra. The incident is of Thursday, in which his bodyguard was injured, who was taken to the hospital. Later, on the complaint of the bodyguard, the Gevrai taluka police booked the driver of the dumper for attempt to murder and arrested him.
Actually Deepa Mudhol was coming to Beed from Aurangabad. At 3.15 pm, he saw a dumper carrying sand without number plate near Gevrai taluka. He asked to follow the dumper. When the bodyguard signaled the dumper driver to stop, he dumped sand in front of the collector’s vehicle. Due to this his car got stuck.
Collector chased in film style
The collector asked his driver to follow the dumper. After about a km, the driver of the dumper suddenly dumped sand on the road, which trapped Deepa’s car. Collector’s bodyguard Ambadas Pavane ran towards the dumper and climbed on top of it. But the driver threatened the guard and kept on driving. After about three km he stopped the dumper and ran away.
After this, Deepa informed the Beed police, after which the police immediately took action and arrested the driver of the dumper, Prakash Kokre, with the help of the local crime branch.
Sand mafia on target ever since it came
Deepa Mudhol is an IAS officer of 2011 batch. Prior to this, she has been the collector in Osmanabad. She also held the post of Administrator of CIDCO Aurangabad. For the first time in Beed, she was transferred as a woman collector in February 2023. The sand mafia has been on his target ever since he came here.
According to reports, maximum illegal sand mining is taking place in Gevrai and Majalgaon talukas of Beed. The revenue administration takes action on them, but this action is only temporary.
