Samsung could give Apple’s Shazam a run for its money
Samsung has used Google’s AI tech for the Circle to Search feature which lets you identify items or content from the internet.
Samsung’s AI push with Google has gathered pace in recent weeks as the companies look to bring their features to more users. Now, the AI-based Circle to Search feature not only lets you search for text or items but can help you identify songs as well, which makes it like a Shazam/Now Playing clone.
Millions play music on their phones or listen to other tracks playing near them and want to identify it quickly. Samsung is using Circle to Search tech to make it happen now. The feature is rolling out through the Google app which enables the AI feature.
Circle To Search For Music – How It Works
Some people have reportedly got access to the new Circle to Search ability and it seems to be working on apps like YouTube. The AI feature is activated by long-pressing the navigation button at the bottom of the screen. You will notice the music icon next to the Translate button within the AI search option. Google will then show you an audio beat which says Play, sing or hum a song. It can also identify any song or music that is playing near you.
We independently checked for the new feature in Circle to Search for Samsung devices but couldn’t find the music option.
The report says you need the Google app updated to the version 15.32.37.28 on Samsung Galaxy devices to unlock the new music-finding power in Circle to Search. The company has not officially talked about its availability so we might have to wait for a few weeks before Samsung brings it for more devices.
Either way, it is good to see more people getting Shazam-like features built into their devices, even if it is through the software. Google’s Pixel devices have offered the Now Playing feature but that works in the background and creates a repository of the songs the device has picked up over time.
