Could Samsung possibly bring the iconic Note moniker back?

Samsung ended the Note lineup and replaced it with the Galaxy Ultra moniker but could we see the popular brand make a comeback?

Samsung is reportedly planning a significant change in its smartphone branding approach for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. As per speculations floating on X, the South Korean tech giant might rebrand the Galaxy Ultra as the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Plus as Galaxy Pro. This means that the tech company is planning to rename two of its flagship smartphones, but the regular model’s name may remain unchanged.

The change could imply a deliberate effort to highlight the device’s S Pen’s capabilities and align with current industry trends. The rumoured renaming follows a bigger trend in the smartphone industry, where manufacturers are increasingly employing the Pro moniker to indicate premium products, just as iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

Reports suggest that Samsung might launch the Galaxy S26, S26 Note and S26 Pro models globally in 2026. The Pro and Note monikers also hint that the devices may include a few additional upgrades over the normal Galaxy S26 model, such as a larger display, battery and camera. However, the tech giant has still not commented on the rumours of its new branding approach.

Meanwhile, the tech company is likely to launch the S25 lineup early next year which is expected to come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip from Qualcomm and its own Exynos 2500 SoC. It has also been reported that the basic variant of the S25 model might feature a 50MP primary camera, maintaining the same resolution seen in the previous three generations, S22, S23 and S24. And for clear selfies and video calls, it might come with a 12MP front camera.

Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the other hand, might get to see some major upgrades including a quad rear camera setup. As per the recent leaks, the device might feature a 200 MP Primary camera, a 50 MP sensor with 5x Zoom, a 50MP ultra-wide angle sensor along with a 50MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom.

As far as the battery is concerned, the upcoming device is expected to pack the usual 4,000 mAh battery, similar to the Galaxy S24. The Galaxy S25 series is said to be launched in early 2025. However, the tech giant has still not announced any date as of now.
