Sam Bahadur Box Office Collection Day 1: Vicky Kaushal Starrer Opens At Rs 5.5 Crore

New Delhi: Vicky Kaushal’s film Sam Bahadur was released with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal on Friday (December 1). While Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film did exceptionally well at the box office, Meghna Gulzar’s biographical war drama based on the life of India’s first field marshal Sam Manekshaw, did modest business and collected Rs 6.25 crore (net) on the first day of its release.

Film analyst Taran Adarsh updated the opening day box office collection of the film on X. He wrote, “#SamBahadur gathered momentum towards evening shows on Day 1… Biz needs to multiply on Sat-Sun for a respectable weekend total… Fri ₹ 6.25 cr. #India biz.”

The film had an overall occupancy of 29.18% in the Hindi market. The film opened with 15.88% occupancy during the morning shows, followed by 20.61% during the afternoon shows, 30.55% during the evening shows, and 49.69% at the night screenings. The film gained momentum in the evening shows and is expected to fare better in the coming days because of positive word of mouth and good reviews by the critics.

ABP Live’s review of the film reads, “Vicky Kaushal in and as Sam Manekshaw, India’s first Field Marshal, delivers a performance, he will be remembered for many many years. The actor’s attention to detail when it comes to the gait, manner of speech, posture and other mannerisms attributed to Sam Manekshaw will make audiences forget that they are watching Vicky Kaushal on screen: a compliment that every actor ideally aspires for. Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh play their parts to the T. However, since a major portion of ‘Sam Bahadur’ revolves around Vicky Kaushal, the actor has the most screen space and a screen presence hard to take your eyes off.”
