On this day, June 25, 1975, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi imposed Emergency in the country. Today, on completion of 48 years of Emergency, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) magazine Panchjanya has compared Indira Gandhi with German dictator Hitler.

Panchjanya magazine has put a picture of Hitler and Indira Gandhi on the cover page of its new issue and has named it ‘Hitler Gandhi’. The magazine has written – two dictators, same text.

The magazine wrote – In many places in Europe, there is a legal ban on denying or forgetting Hitler’s heinous crimes. It is a question of survival for them.

This is the condition of the emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in India, forgetting which can be dangerous for the existence of democracy. Come, remember the story that started from the black night of 25 June 1975….

The day after the Emergency, only the Hindustan Times and the Statesman were able to print, as their printing presses were not on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. This happened because the government cut off the electricity to the institutions on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. A few days before the Emergency, that is, on June 12, the Allahabad High Court had canceled Indira Gandhi’s membership of Parliament.
