RRTS corridor: 3km tracks laid near Duhai depot | Noida News – Times of India

Ghaziabad: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has finished laying 3km of tracks on the RRTS corridor from Duhai depot. Work on installing the masts is going on at the moment.
Officials said the NCRTC was planning to start trial runs on the section by May next year. “At the Duhai depot, trains being manufactured in Gujarat under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative will be brought by the middle of next year. The first lot of grade rails that were manufactured in Raigarh is already here,” said an NCRTC official.
The Duhai depot will also serve as the site for the maintenance of coaches. “The laying of tracks is a crucial phase. We have almost completed the track laying work near Duhai depot. The length of the track is around 3km and there are 11 lines where they have been laid. Similarly, these tracks will be extended to other parts of the corridor under the priority section,” the official said.
The official date of making the priority section — Sahibabad to Duhai — operational is March 2023. “But before it is ready, we will conduct trial runs by May 2022. By December next year, we intend to complete the trial runs,” the official said. “The track laying work between Sahibabad and Ghaziabad will start very soon as 12km of the total 17km viaduct is also complete,” he added.
As of now, more than 14,000 workers and 1,100 engineers are working round-the-clock on the corridor. According to officials, 70% of the civil work, including erecting 600 of the 650 pillars, is complete on the priority section.
The 82km RRTS corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 30,724 crore, of which the state government’s share has been pegged at Rs 6,500 crore.
The RRTS route will have eight stations in Ghaziabad, including Sahibabad, New Bus Adda, Guldhar, Duhai, Muradnagar, Modinagar (South) and Modinagar (North). Of this stretch, 70.5km will be on elevated platforms.
