India registered their 4th successive series win over England in T20I cricket as the Asian giants flaunted their renewed aggressive approach to the shortest format of the game against Jos Buttler’s men in Birmingham on Saturday, July 10.
India last lost a bilateral meeting – a one-off T20I to England in 2014 following which 2 home and as many away series wins have come the team’s way.

Notably, Rohit Sharma also became the second Indian captain after Virat Kohli to win a T20I series in England. Kohli was leading India when they defeated England 2-1 on their tour of 2018.
India also broke Sri Lanka’s record for most successive series wins against England in men’s T20I cricket. Sri Lanka had won 3 from 2008 to 2014.
India took an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the ongoing 3-match series on Saturday after hammering England by 49 runs. Led by Ravindra Jadeja’s gritty 46 not out and a superlative new-ball bowling show from Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/15) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/10), India posted 170 and bowled England out for just 121 in 17 overs.
India had hammered England by 50 runs in the first T20I in Southampton on Thursday after posting 198 on the board.
WORLD RECORD EXTENDS FOR ROHIT
Rohit Sharma is enjoying a purple patch as the captain of team India as he extended his world-record winning run to 14 matches in T20I cricket.
Rohit’s winning streak began in 2019 when India bounced back to beat Bangladesh 2-1 in a 3-match series. Rohit then won a one-off assignment as stand-in captain in New Zealand.
Ever since taking over as full-time captain, Rohit has not lost a single match. He led India to 3-0 sweeps against New Zealand, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka before returning to lead India in England.
With a renewed aggressive approach that he is leading from the front, Rohit is helping India move in the right direction in the T20 World Cup year.
“We were clear what we wanted to do. When you win games, it’s always nice. The group is also confident, which is very important. We will look to continue and focus on what lies ahead. Wanted to see how we do after a win and will look to challenge us as a group,” Rohit said after the 2nd T20I win in Birmingham.\
Rohit would want to keep his unblemished captaincy record intact when India face England in the 3rd T20I on Sunday, July 10 in Nottingham.
