Rocket fired at Police Intelligence Headquarters: Accused under 18 years of age; Arrest from UP; Launched from a moving car

A minor accused involved in a conspiracy to fire rockets from a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher at the Intelligence Wing headquarters in Mohali has been arrested. The accused was nabbed by the Special Cell of Delhi Police from Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh (UP). The Intelligence Wing of Punjab Police is headquartered in Sector-77, Mohali.

The matter of the arrested accused being helpful to the terrorists has come to the fore. At present, the police is interrogating the accused and trying to trace the links with the terrorists including his network.

The Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters was attacked with a rocket launcher at around 8.45 pm on 9 May. There was a stir in the headquarters when there was a loud explosion. The windows of the headquarters building were broken by this, but fortunately there was no loss of life.

Senior officials of the local police station and Punjab Police Department, including the PCR police, took stock of the incident. After this, the Punjab Police had also registered a case.

After the incident, when the police examined the footage captured in the surrounding CCTV cameras, a car was seen passing by the headquarters. In the same car, some youths had fired rockets from the launcher at the headquarters.
