VIJAYAWADA: On Wednesday, November 30, the last day of the 23rd Central BGM of the All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, unanimously passed a resolution to oppose privatization in railways and struggle on the labor code. In the convention cum Golden Jubilee celebrations that lasted for three days, the speakers termed the present condition of the Railways as a matter of grave concern. The leaders urged the government to stop privatisation, outsourcing and sale of railway assets in the railways.

The leaders termed the new labor force as a weapon of exploitation of the workers. In the resolutions passed on the last day of the session, there was a demand for improvement in the functioning, reduction of duty hours, increased attention to safety, reducing the increasing mental pressure on loco pilots due to technical changes. During this a new committee was also formed. In this, MN Prasad was unanimously elected as President, KC James as General Secretary, Mohan Chandra Pandey as Treasurer. Apart from this, a working committee consisting of 76 members was announced.

Earlier on November 28, the 23rd Central BGM of AILRSA was inaugurated in Vijayawada by labor leader and former Rajya Sabha MP and National General Secretary of CITU Tapan Sen. He flagged off the rally. Which went from Railway Parcel Office to Gymkhana Ground. After this, a meeting was organized at the Gymkhana ground. In the session of All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) which lasted for three days, the leaders expressed their anger against the policies of the government. Requested immediate stop to privatisation, outsourcing system and sale of railway assets.

Privatization is a very harmful step for the country. Due to increasing privatization, organizations are gradually going into private hands. AILRSA can play an influential role in this. Oppose the anti-employee policies of the government and play an important role in nation building.

In the convention, MLC KS Laxman Rao blamed the government for reducing the staff in the railways and called upon the employees to fight against privatization. AILRSA central vice-president T Hanumaiah and outgoing general secretary MN Prasad demanded that the government run crack specials to ensure they reach the headquarters, sanction leave, weekly off, declare the running staff under ‘intense category’ and Fill in the blanks. Neta Harilal, PS Surya Prakasam and Rajib Gupta urged the Center to scrap the National Pension Scheme and restore the old pension scheme, provide facilities for women loco pilots and restrict continuous night duty for two days for the running staff. appealed.

In the resolutions passed after the session, to improve the functioning of railways, reduce duty hours, emphasize on safety, reduce the mental pressure on loco pilots in technical change, charge sheet and remove from service for minor lapses. Several demands were included, including changes in the recruitment process, grade pay of 4800 to loco pilots and 4200 to assistant loco pilots. These demands will be kept in the understanding of the Railway Board. The session was also attended by General Secretary of All India Defense Employees Association Sreekumar, Southern Railway Employees Union KS Harilal, representatives of NFIR and AIRF.
