raopura: Entire Raopura Police Station Staff Shifted | Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: In yet another major crackdown on erring cops, city police commissioner Shamsher Singh on Friday gave the entire staff of Raopura police station marching orders.
This is the second time that Singh has shunted out all the staff of any police station en masse. A fortnight ago, all the cops in the karelibaug police station were transferred at one go.
Raopura police station was under the scanner after five cops posted there were suspended recently. An inquiry had revealed that the cops didn’t act against a bootlegger despite having information about his activities. The police said that 84 cops posted in Raopura have been transferred due to administrative reasons and 87 new personnel have been brought in. A woman police inspector has been posted at Raopura police station.
Singh had earlier told TOI that he had been receiving several complaints of deviant behaviour of some cops apart from being hands-in-glove with anti-social elements.
Over the last few months, complaints against the cops are being analysed and behavioural training is also being imparted. The mass transfers have kept the policemen on the edge and pushed them to impart their duties efficiently. On February 18, all the 87 cops posted in Karelibaug police station were transferred in one go.
The move came after an attempted attack on deputy mayor and VMC standing committee chairman by some miscreants in the jurisdiction of Karelibaug police station. Last year, all the cops, who were posted in the same police department for more than five years, were shifted out. In February this year, Singh disbanded the entire detection squad staff posted in all the police stations.
