Rahul Gandhi Ladakh Diaries: Adventure Bike, Bulletproof Visor And Imported Helmet

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on a visit to the picturesque Union Territory of Ladakh. The Member of Parliament from Wayanad chose a motorcycle as his preferred mode of travel. Rahul Gandhi’s journey mirrored that of other travellers to the region who opt for motorcycles to ride through the tough terrains of Ladakh. His itinerary included prominent destinations such as Pangong, Nubra, and Kargil.

Ladakh’s terrain is marked by challenging mountain roads and fluctuating weather conditions, and it demands vigilant safety measures for motorcycle enthusiasts. Congress leader’s trip underscores the charm of exploring Ladakh on a motorcycle, while also serving as a reminder that a balance between adventure and caution is paramount.

If you are an avid traveller and are aware of the Ladakh region’s captivating landscapes then it goes without saying that adequate protective gear is a must besides a thorough understanding of local road conditions.

Considering everything, during his trip Rahul Gandhi was seen all laced up with protective gear as required and almost looked like a seasoned biker. At a glance, he had a weather-control utility jacket, a visor, an offroad helmet, motorcycle-riding cargo pants, biker boots and gloves.

While all the gear worn by the Congress leader was rather bland in appearance, what stuck out was the vibrant helmet. Adorned with striking strokes of green, yellow, and white, the helmet added a dash of style to his Ladakh diary.

A closer inspection reveals the helmet worn by the former Congress president is manufactured by SHOEI, a Japanese company known for producing top-tier motorsport helmets. The particular helmet that Rahul Gandhi was wearing is SHOEI VFX Evo Pinnacle TC-8. On the company website, the helmet is priced at USD 739.99 (approximately Rs 61,000). As the product is not directly available in India, it has to be imported. There are some Indian retailers who sell it, and one of them has its price listed as Rs 85,000 on its website.

The visor worn by Rahul Gandhi is from Leatt, and a close inspection of a similar product showed that it was a bulletproof, permanent anti-fog one.

The bike which Rahul Gandhi was riding appears to be a 2023 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. The bike claims to be effortless while travelling through rugged terrain. With its 1,301 cc V-Twin engine, it is known to handle cross-country journeys, an ideal partner for Rahul Gandhi as he ventured into Ladakh and nearby terrains.
