Qualcomm Seamless Brings Cross-Platform Connectivity Across Windows, Android And More

In a bid to bring operating systems (OS) and platforms including Android, Windows and Snapdragon together as one integrated system, chipset making giant Qualcomm has announced Qualcomm Seamless, its new cross-platform technology that enables the seamless linking of multiple devices across multiple OSes, sharing peripherals and data. The company, at its ongoing annual Snapdragon Summit introduced the cross-platform technology that enables Android, Windows and Snapdragon devices, using other OSes to discover each other and share information to work as one integrated system.

Qualcomm Seamless Availability

OEMs such as Microsoft, Xiaomi, Asus, Honor, Lenovo and Oppo, alongside Android are joining hands with Qualcomm to create multi-device experiences enabled by Snapdragon Seamless. Devices running Snapdragon Seamless will be available globally starting as early as this year.

Snapdragon Seamless is incorporated into Qualcomm’s mobile platforms, including the new top-tier mobile platform, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the premium PC platform, Snapdragon X Elite as well as the company’s wearable and hearable platforms. Snapdragon Seamless will extend to XR, Auto and Internet of Things (IoT) platforms in the future.

With Snapdragon Seamless, device manufacturers and OS partners can enhance and extend their multi-device experiences for users. Forexample, files and windows can be dragged and dropped across different types of devices, mice and keyboards can work seamlessly across PCs, phones and tablets, and earbuds can switch intelligently based on the priority of an audio source.

 “Snapdragon Seamless fundamentally breaks down the barriers between OEMs, devices and operating systems. It’s the only cross-device solution to truly put the user first,” Dino Bekis, VP and GM, wearables and mixed signal solutions, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., said in a statement.
