Punjabi Singer Daler Mehndi reached the High Court: Appeal against the sentence of 2 years imprisonment; lodged with sidhu in patiala jail

Famous Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi has reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Daler has appealed against the two-year imprisonment in the pigeon pelting case. Daler has sought quashing of the sentence by the High Court. Currently, Daler is in Patiala Central Jail. Where he is lodged in the same barracks with former cricketer Congress leader Navjot Sidhu, who is serving a year in the road rage case.

After the sessions court upheld the sentence, the police arrested Daler Mehndi and took him to Patiala Jail.

Case was registered in 2003
Daler Mehndi used to go abroad to do shows earlier. During this, it was alleged that 10 people along with his team were illegally made members and sent to America. In return for which Rs. In 2003, a case was registered against Shamsher Singh, brother of Daler, terming it as pigeon smuggling. During the investigation, Daler Mehndi was also named in it.

Trial court gave punishment, sessions court restored
In this case, in 2018, the trial court of Patiala sentenced Daler Mehndi to 2 years imprisonment. Against this, Daler appealed in the Patiala Sessions Court. 5 days ago the Sessions Court of Patiala upheld the trial court’s decision. After which Daler was arrested and sent to Patiala Jail to serve the sentence.

Daler working as a scribe in jail
Daler Mehndi is kept in Navjot Sidhu’s barracks in Patiala Jail. Where he has been assigned the job of jail scribe. Jail staff will give them registers daily, whose work they will return. Like Sidhu, he too will work from inside the barracks.
