Punjab: Video Shows Raghav Chadha Throwing Mic Of Journalist, AAP Calls It ‘Scripted Attack’

Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and its Punjab co-in charge Raghav Chadha stroked a controversy after a short video clip of him throwing down the microphone of a journalist who had reached late in press conference went viral on social media.

The 12-second-long clip was shared by a Chandigarh-based journalist Taruni Gandhi on Twitter who slammed the AAP MLA from Delhi’s Rajinder Nagar for his ‘arrogant’ behaviour.

The journalist also alleged that Chadha called the channel owner to sack the video journalist.

“A video journalist got lil late, @raghav_chadha threw his mic on floor. He didn’t stop here, he called channel owner to sack video journalist. Now they aren’t in power here in Pb and see their #arrogance. Once God forbid if they are in power, Pb would be in hands of anarchists,” she wrote.

Several AAP workers and supporters called this a “scripted attack” on Chadha and claimed that he had “politely” kept the mic aside.

Chadha himself has not made any official statement on the matter, but has retweeted several tweets that claimed it to be a “scripted attack” on him.

Those supporting Chadha have claimed that the AAP leader politely kept the microphone aside as it was covering his phone, from which has was reading.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Youth Congress took a pod shot at AAP and its convenor Arvind Kejriwal saying this it was not for the first time that AAP had displayed its “dictatorial attitude”.

Kejriwal’s AAP is in a three-dimensional political wrestle with Congress and BJP in Punjab which is all set for Assembly Elections scheduled on February 14. AAP claims to form the next government in Punjab where Congress is in power at present.

The 117-member Punjab Assembly will go to the polls on February 14, and the counting of votes will be taken up on March 10.

The latest round of ABP News-CVoter Battle for the States survey shows that AAP could bag as much as 40 per cent vote share in Punjab Assembly Polls.

Punjab may see a hung Vidhan Sabha in Punjab with AAP emerging as the single largest party, closely followed by the Congress.
