Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Thursday arrested AIG of Punjab Police Ashish Kapoor in a corruption case. The team is interrogating the accused AIG.
In the year 2018, in return for giving relief to two women in the case of forgery and fraud, Ashish Kapoor got his one crore rupees check signed and withdrawn from the bank. In this case, apart from AIG Ashish Kapoor, an FIR has also been registered against DSP Pawan Kumar and ASI Harjinder Singh.
A month ago, the Vigilance team had raided Ashish Kapoor’s Kothi in Mohali. During the search at that time, it was revealed that many documents were recovered from the Kothi. Since then, the sword of arrest was hanging on Ashish Kapoor.

AIG Ashish Kapoor is also accused of rape and extortion from a woman. The woman accused of rape had claimed that she was in jail in a case related to immigration fraud. Ashish Kapoor was the superintendent of the jail at that time. Taking advantage of his position in jail, he forcibly made physical relations with her. It is alleged that after the rape, Ashish Kapoor also married the woman in front of Mata Rani’s photo.
The woman claimed that when she became pregnant after the rape, Ashish Kapoor had given her bail so that no one could come to know the truth.
The woman said that it was Ashish Kapoor who implicated her in a false immigration case at Zirakpur police station in May 2018.
Kapoor provided facilities in jail
The woman had claimed that Ashish Kapoor had provided her all facilities when she was in jail. He had internet connection in addition to mobile phone inside the jail. She used to talk with her children every day. In the name of medical visit, she used to go out of jail and have lunch and shopping with Ashish Kapoor.
24 lakh shopping done
The woman who filed the rape case against Kapoor has claimed that the AIG had given her her credit card. Ashish Kapoor had also talked about buying a house for him. He has a bank statement which proves that he made purchases of around Rs 24 lakh using Kapoor’s credit and debit cards.
78 lakh rupees, half a kilo of gold was forcibly taken
The woman who filed the case against Ashish Kapoor claims that the AIG got money and gold from her and her relatives by torturing and threatening her. In this, Rs 3 lakh 80 thousand cash and 55 tolas of gold were taken out from his aunt’s house. Similarly, Rs 26 lakh was taken from his brother-in-law’s house and Rs 10 lakh and laptop from uncle’s house. Apart from this, Rs 19 lakh was withdrawn from his mother’s HDFC Bank account in Kurukshetra, Rs 15 lakh from PNB, Rs 5 lakh in cash and 450 grams of gold from SBI locker.
