Punjab Excise Policy also under scanner: After Joint Commissioner in Panchkula, ED raids Excise Commissioner’s house in Chandigarh

ED team reached the residence of excise officers of Punjab during the raid.

The Punjab Excise Policy of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has also come under scrutiny. On Tuesday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) first raided the house of Punjab’s Joint Excise Commissioner Naresh Dubey. His house is in Sector 8 of Panchkula. Late in the evening, ED officers secretly reached the residence of Punjab’s Excise and Taxation Commissioner Varun Roojam in Chandigarh.

Here too, the papers related to the excise policy were scrutinized for several hours. From where ED has also seized some papers. Roojam is a 2004 batch IAS officer. However, no formal statement has come from anyone on this issue so far.

Both the officers were in Delhi while making the policy.
According to sources, in the complaint received by the ED, it was told that the Punjab excise policy was also made in Delhi itself. For this a meeting was held at the house of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. In which Excise Commissioner Varun Roojam and Naresh Dubey were also involved. In Punjab, the AAP government had announced the excise policy in June.

Sirsa had complained to CBI and ED
BJP leader Manjinder Sirsa had complained to CBI and ED linking Punjab excise policy with Delhi’s policy. In the complaint given in June, Sirsa said that through the policy, two companies were benefitted in Punjab. These companies had already got license in Delhi.

Akali Dal and Congress also met the Governor
Akali Dal and Congress have also complained to the governor regarding the scam in Punjab excise policy. He demanded a CBI inquiry into it. Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal accused it of a scam of 500 crores.
