punjab: Drugs case: Punjab deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa says Bikram Singh Majithia will be arrested, probed | Chandigarh News – Times of India

CHANDIGARH: Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said on Tuesday that after registration of the FIR in the drugs case, the state police will arrest Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) MLA and former cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia to probe the case threadbare.
Randhawa, who also heads the home department, said that neither he believes in vendetta politics nor in going outside the law. The police will probe the case as per the laid down legal procedure.
“It is a big embarrassment for the Panthic party like Shiromani Akali Dal to get involved in drugs, liquor and mafia,” said Randhawa. The deputy chief minister further added that former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal was having the command of the SAD till 2007 and till then there were no allegations against the SAD about mafia, drugs or liquor. “When the SAD power came to these persons after 2007, they ruined Badal’s name. Today also I have great respect for Badal,” said Randhawa.
The Punjab and Haryana high court has never stopped the state government from acting in the drugs case on the basis of the anti-drug STF report and the police will not step an inch further than what the high court has permitted, said Randhawa.
The deputy chief minister also said that he has ordered to examine the Indian Police Service conduct rules and would act against state bureau of investigation head ADGP SK Asthana if found guilty in leakage of a confidential communication with regard to the investigation in the case against Majithia.
