pro display xdr: Apple may be developing a new, cheaper external monitor for Macs – Times of India

Apple may be working on a low-cost external display which could be about half the price of Apple Pro Display XDR, the tech giant’s professional display, claims Mark Gurman in his first Power On newsletter for this year.
The journalist also said that he’s “hoping” that the new display would arrive in the 2023
“Speaking of Macs and iPads, I’m hoping Apple’s next external monitor—destined to be about half the price of the Pro Display XDR—launches in the coming year. “
He claimed last month that Apple may be able to do cost-cutting on the new external monitor by decreasing the size and the maximum brightness of the display by a little bit and also making a few other tweaks. A low-priced external monitor is what Mac users would like to have as an option as the Pro Display XDR comes at a wallet-draining price of $4,999. Many users are hence forced to go for a display from an external brand instead of paying a premium for the Pro Display XDR. Gurman had said that a low-priced Apple external monitor would be “a hot seller for those looking to add a larger screen to their new MacBook Pro without spending the equivalent of a luxury car down payment on the Pro Display XDR.”
Last month itself, leaker Dylandkt had claimed that Apple could have three LG-made external displays in the works. Of the three, two had the same specs as the the 27-inch and 24-inch current iMac displays, while the other would be a 32-inch Pro Display XDR. he had claimed. As per the tipster, there are high chances that Apple would use custom silicon to power the 32-inch display while the other two won’t feature custom silicon.
