New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra Jonas had been reported to be joining the project when it was officially announced that Ranveer Singh would be taking over the ‘Don’ franchise. It’s been a while since the actor appeared in a Hindi movie. Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has focused entirely on ‘Don 3’ and actor Ranveer Singh will play the lead role in the upcoming sequel instead of Shah Rukh Khan.
According to Hindustan Times, Akhtar is currently striving to get back together with his co-stars from ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’.
“The team of Don 3 has indeed approached Priyanka Chopra to revisit her character. In fact, the first few meetings also took place when Priyanka came to India recently for another professional commitment. She used her time in India to align the talks and figure out her next project in the Hindi film industry,” a source told the publication.
Priyanka Chopra played Roma Bhagat, a.k.a. Junglee Billi, in the Don franchise.
“Priyanka has a very close bond with Farhan, and is trying to make it work and checking her schedule. Her return might also become a reality as Shah Rukh is no longer associated with the project,” the source added.
According to reports, Farhan has signed on to begin filming ‘Don 3’, which stars Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh. He’s only waiting on Priyanka to give him the all-clear.
“Since Jee Lee Zara could not happen for Priyanka and Farhan, both the teams are trying to make Don 3 work. Priyanka enjoys working with Farhan, and has shown her interest. If things fall in place, it will be a reunion of the Dil Dhadakne Do gang, and that’s something to look out for,” the source said.
Priyanka Chopra will next be seen alongside Idris Elba and John Cena in the Hollywood film ‘Heads Of State.’
