Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal walked out of Tihar jail on Friday after the Supreme Court granted him bail in the liquor policy scam case. AAP leaders and workers gathered outside the Tihar jail and burst firecrackers to welcome the Delhi CM.

After coming out of jail, the AAP national convenor said, “Today I want to say that I have come out of jail and my courage has increased 100 times…The walls of their jail cannot weaken the courage of Kejriwal…I will pray to god to continue showing me the right path and I will continue fighting against all the power who are trying to weaken the country and divide the country…”

“I have faced many difficulties in my life but God has supported me at every step. This time too God supported me because I was honest, right…” he added.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan heard the case and granted bail to the Chief Minister on a bail bond of Rs 10 lakh, and two sureties.

While granting bail, the Supreme Court directed Kejriwal not to make any public comment on the merits of the case and added that terms and conditions as imposed in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case would also be applicable in this case. The court said that Kejriwal cannot visit his office or the Delhi Secretariat and not sign any official file unless necessary to obtain the Lieutenant Governor’s sanction.

Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal congratulated the AAP family on the party’s national convenor’s bail and wished for the “sooner release of other leaders”. “Congratulations to the AAP family! Kudos for staying strong Wishing also the soonest release of our other leaders,” Sunita Kejriwal wrote in an X post.

Former Delhi Deputy CM & AAP leader Manish Sisodia called Arvind Kejriwal’s bail an “assurance that no matter who comes as a dictator, the Constitution of our country is there as a shield”.

“Nothing is above the Consitution in India. The Supreme Court’s decision is not just for Arvind Kejriwal but it is an assurance that no matter who comes as a dictator, the Constitution of our country is there as a shield… It has been proven today that the arrest by the CBI was to halt the bail in the ED case… Arvind Kejriwal has Lord Ram’s blessings and the shield of the Consitution… ‘Sacchai aur kattar Imandari hamesha josh mein rehti hai’…” he said.

Opposition Leaders React On Kejriwal’s Release:

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray expressed happiness over the AAP leader’s release and said the truth always prevails over politics.

“Truth prevails over politics! Glad to see @ArvindKejriwal ji walk out and ready to fight for democracy and the Constitution again. There are coward gaddaars who betray their own and run away, and on the other side there are those like Arvind ji who choose to fight for the truth! Satyamev Jayate!”, he said in a post on X.

Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM leader Hemant Soren also greeted Kejriwal and said that the truth has defeated lies and conspiracy.

“Today, truth has once again emerged victorious, defeating lies and conspiracy… Jharkhandi Johar to the Honorable Chief Minister of Delhi, elder brother Mr @ArvindKejriwal ji!” he said on X.
