Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Army personnel who went under Operation Dost, launched by India after the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Praising Operation Dost, he said that the entire team associated with Operation Dost, be it NDRF, Army, Air Force or our other services partners, all have done an excellent job. The country is proud of you.

Our culture has taught us Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. We consider the whole world as one family. When any member of the family is in trouble, it is India’s duty to help him. We all have seen those pictures where a mother was blessing you with a kiss on the forehead.

The Prime Minister referred to the earthquake in Gujarat in 2001
Referring to the Gujarat earthquake in 2001, PM Modi said that when there was an earthquake in Gujarat, I had worked as a volunteer and I had seen the difficulties faced in rescuing people. The whole world saw how you got there immediately. It shows your preparation and your training skills. Our dog squad members have also displayed amazing abilities.

PM said- India first offers help
The PM said that whenever there is a disaster, India is the first to offer help. Be it Nepal earthquake, Maldives or Sri Lanka crisis, India was the first to come forward to help. Now other countries are also increasing their trust on NDRF.

He further said that when someone can help himself then you can call him self sufficient, but when someone is able to help others then he is selfless. Wherever we reach with the tricolor, people get an assurance that now that the Indian teams have arrived, the situation will start getting better. We saw the same role of the tricolor in Ukraine some time ago.
