NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu on Saturday called Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM supremo Hemant Soren seeking support for her candidature. Sources gave this information.

The source said that Murmu personally called up Soren and sought support for his candidature. Murmu had also earlier called up Congress President Sonia Gandhi, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar and West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee before filing her nomination for the July 18 presidential election. According to sources, all the three leaders wished him well.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has called a meeting of its MPs and MLAs on Saturday to discuss the upcoming presidential election. The JMM is a constituent of the Congress-led UPA alliance and is in power in Jharkhand in alliance with it.

Murmu submitted his nomination along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Returning Officer PC Modi on Friday. During this, many Union ministers including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and BJP President JP Nadda were present with him.

Several chief ministers of BJP-ruled states including Yogi Adityanath, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Manohar Lal Khattar, Jai Ram Thakur, Pushkar Singh Dhami and some pro-NDA parties like YSRCP, BJD and AIADMK were also present during their filing of nominations.
