Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a three-day visit to Gujarat from Sunday. They reached Ahmedabad at around 3.30 pm on Sunday. After this he reached Modhera village in Mahesana district by helicopter, where he declared Modhera village as India’s first solar powered village. Along with this, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of many projects in Modhera. He then inaugurated the Light and Sound Show at the ancient Sun Temple and performed aarti of the Goddess at Modheshwari Mata Temple in Modhera.

PM said in his address – Today is a proud moment for Mehsana and Modhera villages. Today, when we are in Surya village Modhera, it is a coincidence that today is also Sharad Purnima. It is also a coincidence that today is also Valmiki Jayanti. Today, new energy of development has been infused for entire North Gujarat including Modhera, Mehsana.

From electricity, water to road, rail… from dairy to skill development and health, many projects have been inaugurated and the foundation stone has been laid. For the past few days, discussions are taking place all over the country regarding Surya Gram Modhera. People are saying that it was not thought that this dream can come true in front of our eyes. Today we all are seeing this dream come true.

Modhera is becoming an example in the world
He said that what did the invaders do nothing to mix the Modhera in the soil centuries ago, which Modhera was subjected to various atrocities. That Modhera is now becoming an example in the world for its mythology as well as modernity. This is the power of Gujarat, which is visible in Modhera today. He is present in every corner of Gujarat. These projects will create new employment opportunities. It will help in increasing the income of farmers and livestock farmers and will also expand tourism related facilities in the entire region. He said that till now it used to be that the government used to generate electricity and the people used to buy it. The central government is trying to make people install solar panels in their homes. To promote solar power in the country, financial assistance is being given by the government.

Solar panels on the roof of every house in the village
A ground mounted solar power plant has been installed at Modhera village, 25 km away from Mehsana district. To generate electricity, solar panels and solar systems with a capacity of one kilowatt have been installed on the roof of every house in the village. All these solar systems are connected with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

60 to 100 percent saving in electricity bill
During the day, the village and its houses will be powered by solar panels, while in the evening, India’s first grid-connected MW or scale battery energy storage system will supply electricity to the households. For this, the Central and Gujarat Government have invested more than Rs 80 crore in two phases in the Solar Development Project. This project will make Modhera the first village in India to generate electricity from solar panels and will enable villagers to save 60-100 per cent on their electricity bills.

Will reach Bharuch on Monday
Amod will leave from Gandhinagar at 9 am on Monday. Will address the general meeting in Amod. Will inaugurate a project worth 8 thousand crores in Bharuch.
