PM Modi’s New Car Mercedes-Maybach Is Routine Replacement — Here Are Its Special Features

New Delhi: A new car has now been introduced in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy. This car is Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Guard. Prime Minister Modi was recently spotted in the new Mercedes-Benz Maybach S650 Guard at Hyderabad House in Delhi where he arrived to meet the Russian President Vladimir Putin during his short visit to India earlier this December.

This new car is not an upgrade but a routine replacement of the car from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy as BMW stopped making the model which was used previously. PM Modi’s convoy also has cars like BMW 7 Series High-Security Edition, Land Rover Range Rover Vogue, and Toyota Land Cruiser.

Security Features Of Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Guard

This car is neither affected by bullets nor by any bomb blast. It has been introduced to further enhance the security protocol of PM Modi’s travel. It is being reported that the car provides VR10-level protection. This is the highest level of security available in any protection car. The car can also withstand an attack from an AK-47 rifle.

Widespread discussion on the security features of the protectee’s car is not in the national interest as if the information is put in the public domain it only threatens the life of the protectee.

Special Protection Group Norms By Regarding Prime Minister’s Car

Special Protection Group (SPG) security detail has a six-year norm to replace vehicles used for protectee, in this particular case Prime Minister of India. The previous cars in PM Modi’s fleet were used for eight years. An audit raised objections over this issue and commented that such a delay is compromising the life of the Prime Minister.

The decisions relating to security detail purchases are based on the threat perception of the protectee. These decisions are taken independently by SPG without taking the views of the protectee.
