Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the inaugural session of the Voice of Global South Summit. During this he said, it is my good fortune that I am welcoming you to this summit. I thank you that you are participating in this from different places of the world. India has always shared its developmental experience with its brothers from the Global South. Tell me, the purpose of this summit is the voice of unity, the purpose of unity.

He said, we have entered the new year. The past year was full of war, conflict, terrorism and tension. During this, the Prime Minister also expressed concern over the rising food, fertilizer and fuel prices. He said, ‘Global South’ is not responsible for most of these global challenges, but it has the most impact on it.

It is difficult to predict how long the state of instability will last.
Prime Minister Modi said, it is difficult to predict how long the situation of instability prevailing on the global stage will continue. In such a situation, our (Global South) future is at stake the most. Three-fourths of humanity lives in our countries. India has always shared its development experience with the Global South. Our development partnership covers all geographies and is diverse. As India begins its G20 Presidency this year, it is natural that we aim to be the voice of the Global South.

Support of each other is necessary to create a new system
We supported each other in the fight against foreign rule and we can do so again in this century to build a new world order that will ensure the welfare of our citizens, the PM said. Your voice is India’s voice and your priorities are India’s priorities. International organizations like the United Nations have a big role to play in solving global issues. We must include reforms and progress in these.
