Petrol and diesel prices have been hiked once again. Petrol and diesel prices have increased by 80-80 paise in the capital Delhi today. With this, 1 liter of petrol has reached Rs 103.41 and diesel at Rs 94.67 per liter here.

Petrol and diesel became costlier by Rs 8 in 13 days
Petrol and diesel have become costlier by Rs 7 to 96 paise a liter in Delhi since March 22 till now. Petrol was at Rs 95.45 per liter on March 21. But since then till now i.e. in just 13 days, petrol has become costlier by Rs 7 96 paise to Rs 103.41. At the same time, diesel is also getting costlier by Rs 7 96 paise and is being sold at Rs 94.67 per liter.

Prices may increase now
According to a report by Crisil Research, there was a need to increase the price of petrol and diesel by Rs 15 to 20 to compensate for the loss of oil marketing companies. From this perspective, the price of petrol and diesel may increase by another Rs 12.

Today, when you get petrol worth Rs 100, out of which Rs 52 goes into the government’s pocket as tax. Due to this, the pockets of the common people were emptied, while the government’s treasury was filled rapidly.

Petrol becomes twice as expensive after tax
On the base price of petrol which is currently close to Rs 53, the central government is charging Rs 27.90 excise duty on it. After this, the state governments charge VAT and Cess on their own, after which their price has increased by 2 times the base price. In such a situation, it is not possible to reduce the price of petrol without giving tax relief.
