An incident of assault has come to light in an Air India flight going from Sydney to Delhi. A passenger has slapped a senior officer of Air India. The passenger was detained at the Delhi airport following a complaint by the crew member, following which he apologized to the officer in writing.
According to media reports, this incident is of July 9. The airline recently reported the matter to the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). After which the matter has come to the fore.
The passenger also misbehaved with the crew member for refusing to talk loudly.
There was a fight for refusing to talk loudly
According to reports, an Air India spokesperson said that a passenger was traveling from Sydney to Delhi on flight AI301. During the flight, he was talking loudly to other passengers. When the crew member asked him to talk quietly, he misbehaved with them.
Air India’s head of in-flight services Sandeep Verma was also traveling in the same flight. His ticket was in business class but due to non-availability of seats, he was given a seat in economy class. Seeing the behavior of the passenger, when he tried to pacify him, he slapped him and twisted his hand.
Passenger was released after apologizing in writing
Thereafter, another crew member came and separated the two and made Verma sit on the other seat. After the flight landed in Delhi, the passenger was handed over to airport security officials. The passenger then apologized in writing to the officer, after which he was allowed to go.

In January, a passenger on a SpiceJet flight, Absar Alam, molested an air hostess. A video of this incident also surfaced. In which the accused was seen shouting at the air hostess.
After this incident, Absar and his fellow passenger were removed from the flight. Absar was a resident of Delhi’s Jamia Nagar. He was going to Hyderabad with his family. He was arrested after the complaint.
Urine incident happened in Air India flight itself.
Passenger Shankar Mishra urinated on an elderly woman on an Air India New York-Delhi flight on November 26. The airline did not take any action on this incident. The airline lodged an FIR with the Delhi Police. This action was taken when the victim elderly woman complained to the chairman of the Tata Group.
In this case, DGCA imposed a fine of 30 lakhs on the airline. DGCA suspended the pilot’s license for 3 months. Accused Shankar Mishra was also banned from air travel for 4 months.
