The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on Tuesday following the passage of the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament.

Meanwhile, proceedings in the Rajya Sabha are scheduled to continue today, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to address the Upper House.

The Lok Sabha session, which began on June 24, included seven sittings that spanned 34 hours, achieving a productivity rate of 103 percent. The debate on the Motion of Thanks lasted for 18 hours, Speaker Om Birla said.

On Tuesday, during his over two-hour-long address in the Lower House, PM Modi launched a sharp counterattack on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, mocking him as having a ‘balak buddhi‘ (childish mind). He accused the Congress leader of linking Hindus with violence, making false claims in Lok Sabha, and called for stringent action against him to safeguard parliamentary democracy.
