On this day in 1921 Verghese Kurien was born. Dr. Verghese Kurien has been instrumental in making Amul a brand. Varghese Kurien, a 28-year-old mechanical engineer from Kerala, arrived in Gujarat’s Anand city in 1949 as a government employee for dairy operations. No one knew then that Dr. Kurien would make Anand the milk capital of India. Amul (Anand Milk Union Limited) was born in 1955 under his stewardship. Today is the anniversary of Mumbai attack. On the evening of 26 November 2008, Ajmal Kasab and nine of his companions entered Mumbai via the Arabian Sea with weapons in hand.
