Pakistani MP Aamir Liaquat Hussain has passed away at his house, according to several reports. He was 49.

He fell unconscious at his home and was rushed to Aga Khan University Hospital, but could not be revived. Confirming his death, PTI leader Jamal Siddiqui said that an employee of Amir Liaquat informed him about his death. The hospital management said that the cause of the death of Amir Liaquat would be known only after the autopsy.

According to some media reports, he had said he would leave the country since he left Imran Khan’s party. His third wife leaving him within a month of their wedding, accusing him of being a drug addict and wife-beater, also played a role in his decision.

Hamza Azhar Salam, editor of a Pakistani media outlet, had tweeted on Wednesday evening, that he had spoken to Hussain, who had told the journalist that he was moving to an undisclosed place.

Hussain stepped into politics with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and was elected as an MP of Pakistan for the first time in 2002. In 2004, he was appointed as the minister of state for religious affairs and Zakat and Ushar Division in September 2004 by the erstwhile Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz.
